Funders

Funding for T.E.A.C.H Early Childhood® Pennsylvania comes from a variety of sources including the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services (DHS) and Pennsylvania’s Department of Education (PDE)

Additionally, foundations, United Ways, Corporations, and School Districts may contribute or sponsor scholarships. Scholarship recipients and their sponsoring child care programs also pay a portion of scholarship costs. 

Scholarships have been made possible in Pennsylvania through funding provided by

American Business Collaboration (ABC): ABC contributed funds to offer Associate’s Degree Scholarships to child care professionals that work in programs serving employees of Aetna, Deloitte Touche and IBM. Their funds have also supported the compensation component for family child care providers

Child Care Matters (CCM): CCM was a quality child care initiative in Southeastern Pennsylvania comprised of five organizations: Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAEYC), Delaware Valley Child Care Council (DVCCC), Philadelphia Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY), Philadelphia Early Childhood Collaborative and United way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. CCM Funded Associate Degree and Child Development Associate (CDA) credential scholarships in the southeastern region. 

Department of Human Services (DHS) & The Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL): DHS (Previously Department of Public Welfare/DPW) Contributed significant dollars to expand scholarships statewide. These scholarships have been awarded to individuals pursuing an Associate Degree or CDA Credential in 58 of 67 counties. 

Focus on Our Future, York County: Focus On Our Future is a community-wide child care initiative sponsored by the United Way of York County in partnerships with York Foundation, Penn State York, and Child Care Consultants, Inc. that contributes dollars to support bonuses for family provider participants in York County. 

Heinz Endowments: The Heinz Endowments supports efforts to make southwestern Pennsylvania a premier place to live and work, a center of learning and educational excellence and a home to diversity and inclusion. The foundation contributed funds to support compensation for family provider participants and to spearhead a bachelor’s degree scholarship program in western Pennsylvania. 

Pennsylvania Home-Based Child Care Provider Association (PHBCCPA): PHBCCPA contributed dollars to support the compensation of family provider scholarship recipients. 

School District of Philadelphia: The School District of Philadelphia (SDP) funded T.E.A.C.H Scholarships for staff working for their Pre-K Counts Child Care partner sites. SDP has funded the first pilot graduate level scholarship for students earning a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and PA Teacher Certification. 

Terri Lynn Lokoff Child Care Foundation (TLLCCF): The foundation is a non-profit 501©(3) organization that supports non-sectarian, non-profit child care programs dedicated to excellence. The TLLCCF provided funds to support bachelor’s and master’s degree scholarships in the southeast region of the state. 

United Way of Greater Lehigh Valley: The United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania (UWSEPA), now the United Way of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey, Funded CDA Credential, associate’s and bachelor’s degree scholarships for staff working in child care programs (In Philadelphia) affiliated with UWSEPA. 

Wawa Corporation: Wawa donated proceeds from the Rendelli Sandwich to T.E.A.C.H for Bachelor’s degree scholarships
