PACCA’s 2005 Child Care Provider Wage Survey

The Pennsylvania Child Care Association conducted a survey of child care centers to benchmark wages and benefits across Pennsylvania. Almost 500 licensed Child Care Centers from 54 counties throughout Pennsylvania completed the survey and gave us a great deal of statistical data that will be used to advocate on your behalf in the future.

Some survey highlights:

  • Of those who responded, most (82%) were NOT accredited; however 87% were enrolled in Keystone STARS.
  • The survey shows that 33% of the respondents have no employer funded health coverage; and another 28% of those for whom it is available for the employee, there is no coverage for their dependants.
  • Nearly 1/3 of the programs had to reduce enrollment due to turnover and the inability to fill vacant classroom positions.
  • 60% of Group Supervisors in the responding programs have a BA or other advanced degree – 35% of them are degreed in ECE.
