Child care centers throughout Northeast Pennsylvania are seeing a drop in attendance as parents tighten their wallets during the recession and increasingly turn to the state to help defray child care costs.
"Some parents are staying home because they are finding it is not worth going to work at getting the money they are getting, because it goes right back into day care," said Ellie Lloyd, director of the Miss Ellie's Education Center in Wilkes-Barre.
