Bangor Child Care Center Develops Staff Through Higher Education

After completing 9 ECE college credits from Northampton Community College, Jessica Gardner of Bangor Child Care Center has been awarded her Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential.

Mrs. Gardner is one of 19 employees at the Center who is enrolled in the Associates Degree for Early Childhood Education, of which most are funded through T.E.A.C.H. Director, Kate Brahm, said, “Jessica is a star member of our TEAM and is a natural in the classroom. Her professionalism and kindness are a great addition to our Center.”

Jessica’s co-worker, Kenda Richards, also recently earned educational recognition.  She earned her associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Northampton Community College. This opportunity was provided to Ms. Richards with financial assistance from Bangor Child Care Center and the T.E.A.C.H. program. Upon earning her degree, Kenda was eligible to become the Group Supervisor for the Center’s Pre-Kindergarten classroom.

Owner Jo Ann Carcione stated, “Keystone STARS and T.E.A.C.H. has helped motivate Kenda and the other TEAM members to excel in the early childhood education field by continuing their college education. Finally, early childhood employees are getting the recognition and compensation that they truly deserve.”
